This broken bowl, a common object, caught my attention with its beauty. I was drawn to the reflections on the side of the ceramic, as well as the bowl's shapes. I used a black and white setting to emphasize these.
Continuing with the theme of night near the winter solstice, Night of Peace is a small felt wall hanging I made in 2011. It's made of synthetic felt that I hand stitched with cotton embroidery thread. You can see more details in my etsy shop.
I've begun writing poetry regularly during the last few years. Before that, most of my creative work was in the visual arts. I made this cotton wall hanging in 2002. It's 8 1/2" x 11." I deliberately left the edges raw to experiment with texture and sewed the piece by machine. Mola appliqués, a type of vibrant multi-layered work, were part of my inspiration for Seeds of Peace.
