Art Give-Away

This past weekend, I held an art give-away.  Over time, I've sold some of my work, but after decades of making linocuts and woodcuts plus painting, sewing and felt making I have accumulated a vast amount of work.  So, I decided to keep a copy of each print for myself and to offer the others as… Continue reading Art Give-Away

Mirrors of the Heart Card Deck, Printmaking

Mirrors of the Heart Page

Finally, this week I did something I've been planning to do for a while.  I created a page about the most popular art work I've done--my card deck, Mirrors of the Heart.  It's made of linocuts I created in 1994 and had offset printed. There are other images from the deck in the Mirrors category.

Slash of Sunlight–Interiors Photo

This is another photo in a series of interiors I've taken, from early this year or late last year. Because of the drama of the lighting, I took it in black and white to heighten the contrast.

Print in Progress

I've included two photos in this post of the lino block that I carved in 2005 that led to the print I call Observer. I first painted an image on the block. However, the act of carving was often somewhat intuitive.  I made decisions about the texture and changed the image as I went along instead of having a… Continue reading Print in Progress

At Peace Linocut

Last month I came upon a copy of a print of mine that I'd remembered over the years but thought was lost to me. The print was part of a very small edition and I had no copies left. I found it in my mother's apartment after her death.  It was a lovely and timely surprise to… Continue reading At Peace Linocut

Interiors–The Student

I'm settling in and returning to blogging after our computer shorted out and burned internally a few weeks ago.  Now I'm learning a new system.  The photo in this post is one I took in Dec. of 2012, part of the series of interior photographs I've been taking.  I shot the image in black and white… Continue reading Interiors–The Student

Linocut: Birth of Goddess, ii

Here's a variation on the theme of the birth of imaginary goddesses. This is another linocut that I made in 1974, again under my former married name.

Masks, Printmaking

Finding the Mask of the Goddess Linocut

Here's another linocut I made in the 1970s.  Again, the theme has to do with an imaginary goddess. This time she doesn't appear, but one of her masks does.

Birth of the Goddess Linocut

In keeping with prints on the theme of birth, here's a mythological scene I hand carved and hand printed in 1974. I did several prints at the time on imagined goddesses. This is one of them, in celebration of spring.

Birth Linocut

This is a linocut I made in 1983 that was printed in a women's health journal. The article was on midwifery. I hand carved and handprinted the image. I've put the linocut up for sale in my etsy shop.
