View from the Art Gallery

On March 15, I was playing around with the panorama setting on my phone while at the Art Gallery of Ontario.  Here's the result from the spiral staircase leading down (in our case) from the top floors. For those of you not from Toronto, the white and black elevated slab is part of the Art… Continue reading View from the Art Gallery

Ice Sculptures

I was downtown today when I remembered that there was an ice sculpture festival in Yorkville this past weekend. Because it's been colder than usual this winter in Toronto, I knew the sculptures would be in excellent shape. And they were. I now realize that photographing ice sculptures isn't easy. The light needs to be… Continue reading Ice Sculptures

Slash of Sunlight–Interiors Photo

This is another photo in a series of interiors I've taken, from early this year or late last year. Because of the drama of the lighting, I took it in black and white to heighten the contrast.

Interior–Light and Dark

Here's another interior photograph I've taken recently.  I love seeing the sunlight touching objects in the rooms, the patterns of light and dark that are created.

Interior–The Beauty in the Broken

I'm enjoying the interior photographs I've been taking of scenes and objects around my apartment. Things that I might overlook because I've grown accustomed to them and no longer actually see them are now grabbing my attention.   For the past few years, I've been drawn to the beauty in broken pieces of ceramics and… Continue reading Interior–The Beauty in the Broken

Toronto in the Cold

It's quite cold in Toronto now.  Yesterday, on a bright morning, I took these photographs.  I was drawn to the drama of the steam and/or smoke rising from the chimneys.

In the Mirror

I'm enjoying photographing these interior scenes. I was drawn to the contrast of light and dark in this image and the shifting, somewhat fragmented view of the room in the mirror.
