I took this photo while walking in The Beach neighbourhood in Toronto that's off Lake Ontario. This is from early December. The water, sky and trees do my heart good in all seasons.

In the Sea
As I meander through the work I've done, I wanted to show you a linocut I made in 1973, two years into first taking up printmaking and signed under my former married name. It's the last copy of the edition that I have and is framed behind glass. So the photos here have some reflections in them.… Continue reading In the Sea
All the Best
It's not only what we wish one another at the holidays, but is also a food store that is a land of fantasy in Toronto. All the best of peace and good health to you, Lily
Late Afternoon Light
Earlier this month, while walking home late in the afternoon, I noticed that the light was washing with gold everything it fell on. The contrast with the deep stormy clouds was beautiful to me. So, out came my phone and I took several photos. Here's one of them.

A few years ago, I started experimenting with black and white photography in the fall just to see what would arise in… Continue reading Captivated by Autumn
Healing Power of Autumn
This is a linocut I made in the 1970s under my previous married name, Susan Barsel-Herman, to express my love of autumn. I called the print The Healing Power of Autumn.
The Past Few Weeks
It's been a radiant fall in Toronto and is just past the peak now. On an abnormally warm day (it's going up to 19 degrees celsius) and before the leaves fall any further, here's three photos from the past few weeks. The middle photo of the maple is on the University of Toronto campus--on Philosopher's Walk. The… Continue reading The Past Few Weeks
Purple and Orange
This beautiful morning, with purple clouds and orange leaved trees: Toronto 8:10 a.m, looking southwest.
After the Storm
We had a day of much much rain and wind yesterday. The tail end of Hurricane Patricia was passing through and we may still be having the aftereffects with high winds continuing today. Last night, the clouds were beautifully dramatic over downtown Toronto and Lake Ontario. I'm in a large city, where I look to the… Continue reading After the Storm
