Here is a poem I wrote in 2013 after a massive ice storm in Toronto. And a photo from the winter of 2017 at the Brickworks.
Storm of ice
A storm of ice
has descended on us
lasting over parts
of three days
coating branches and wires
bringing down the electricity
across the city.
While the soft grey light remains
I sit writing
thinking about the urban
domesticated animals we are
and how we depend
on power we do not control
with a switch
and how we live
blind though we are
how we live
by the grace of nature.
