Genocide drawing

Those of you who’ve read my blog for a while will know that I often do unplanned artwork. That is, I begin working without a particular goal in mind. Instead I see what emerges as I go along. That’s what I did with this line drawing that I made over two days this week. Parts of the drawing are somewhat mysterious to me, like images in a dream or nightmare. Other parts are images of violent death and destruction that I intentionally added as I began thinking about the genocide of Palestinians by Israel.

  1. Thank you for these drawings. I’ve held back from incorporating the genocide in my art because I don’t know how l do this without objectifying the people suffering this human made and preventable horror. You have caught this just right in your spontaneous drawings reflecting your feelings as art should. And always it’s crucial to highlight this in everyday life so as a society we don’t normalise what is being done to the Palestinian people in our name.
