I made this cotton wall hanging in 2002. It's 8 1/2" x 11." I deliberately left the edges raw to experiment with texture and sewed the piece by machine. Mola appliqués, a type of vibrant multi-layered work, were part of my inspiration for Seeds of Peace.
I made this wall hanging in 2003 from synthetic felt. I sewed it entirely by hand. The design of the appliqué arose from my love of masks.
Before I took up feltmaking, I worked for a few years making quilts and appliqués . While making appliqués from cotton fabric, I ventured into using synthetic felt for the ease of cutting the shapes and sewing them.
