I continue following the dreadful news of the Israeli genocide of Palestinians. And as I continue making art, the unfolding horror is on my mind. Here’s 2 sketches I recently made plus a collage using fragments of some of my early prints.
When I went back over some of my sketches, I was shocked to see the date on which I made the one of Howard Zinn’s book on War that I was reading. It was Oct. 7th, before I’d heard the news about the Hamas attacks in Israel.
The other drawing is an image I made in December in the wish I could give real peace to the Palestinians.
The collage is from a series I’ve begun in which I’m reusing old artwork, creating something further with the linocuts and woodcuts I made, some over 50 years old. Prints are a great medium for collages because they are multiples of roughly the same image in each edition or group. So I can cut up one of the prints in the edition and keep one for myself. As I work, it dawns on me that these fragments are not just pieces of my life, but also have meaning for me because of the people and buildings being smashed apart in Gaza.

Great post. Thank you.
I’m so glad you liked the post and let me know.
